Our Mexico Finca Monte Azul is a washed arabica coffee grown in the Huatusco region in a Veracruz; one of the three main quality coffee growing regions in Mexico.
The coffees here grows at altitudes of 1600-1800 metres above sea level, amongst various small producers within the mountains. The harvested coffee cherries are meticulously hand picked for quality, washed and then fermented for 72 hours, helping to develop the coffee's bold and flavour-rich cup.
Veracruz was at the very start of the coffee plant’s arrival into Mexico and mainland America in the 18th century. It has remained a revered coffee growing state over centuries, and has 10-20 regions within spanning north to south, which can successfully contribute to the country's export of high quality coffee.
We have roasted this coffee to a light/medium roast profile, accentuating it's natural citrus acidity and vibrancy, whilst developing its rich dark brown sugar body! A great all-rounder coffee to enjoy as both filter or espresso brewing methods. Pair it with milk for a real sweet hit!
Lovely smooth taste, which builds as you drink a cup. At first taste it seems not to be worthy of a 4 for strength, but a couple of sips on and it's perfect. Will buy again.
