At Buncho station, the red cherry is sorted and carefully dried on raised beds. The name "Buncho" comes from the Sidama word for a coffee tree, reflecting the region’s deep-rooted coffee heritage.
Grown in the Shantawene region on Gatta farm, owned by Daye Bensa Coffee, as well as nearby farmers with small plots. These farmers tend to hold about two hectares of land each, and share similar cultivation practices across the group.

Daye Bensa, founded by the two coffee producer brothers, has a strong commitment to quality and has garnered recognition in Cup of Excellence competitions.
Daye Bensa’s Gatta Farm isn’t only a farm, it consists of a drying station, a lodge and a training facility. During harvesting season, the drying station becomes active and also offers accommodations for employees or trainees until the training has ended. The training facility offers training in sustainable farming methods, distribute improved seedlings, and teach composting techniques.
In addition to paying for cherry at the going market rate, Daye Bensa Coffee offers second payments after the harvest season. The company’s support extends beyond agriculture too - helping fund the construction of schools within the community, as well as gifting seedlings back to the farmers.
