A naturally processed Nicaraguan coffee with a full-bodied flavour, and complex aromas, sourced from Sajonia Estate Coffee in Matagalpa.
 
The coffee bean itself is from the Maracaturra variety, commonly know as the 'elephant bean' due to its much larger bean size!
 
Maracaturra is a hybrid variety of two coffee cultivars, Maragogype and Caturra, which is commonly found in Central and South American coffee growing countries, such as El Salvador and Brazil. The flavours from this bean are usually complex in character, with descriptors ranging from sweet and nutty with hints of citrus and floral notes. It is also known for its balanced acidity and smooth finish.

 So what will this particular coffee bring? Well when sampling it, we found it to have a sweet and nutty-smelling aroma when ground, and a real sweetened chocolatey profile, with hints of tropical fruits developing as it cooled to a drinkable temperature. A real complex coffee to enjoy!
 
Due to the bean's larger size the roast takes a little longer to develop, with careful monitoring needed to develop evenly during its caramelisation stage. We found that a light/medium roast level worked well for this coffee, to allow it to be brewed on both espresso and filter coffees.

Bigger beans

The first thing you notice is the size of the Nicaraguan beans. They are about twice the size of other beans. So, it was with interest that I first ground these beans to make my coffee in my AeroPress, to taste the results. They make a very drinkable cup of coffee, which I find better with food than without. Worth a grind.

Lovely coffee

Another lovely coffee from Divine, I order this in beans and use it in my bean to cup machine and gives me an easy (but tasty) morning coffee….which I’ve also been know to drink later in the day as well.

Fantastic Coffee Blenders

I've been a subscriber for more than three years. Customer service is superb. All the coffee blends I have purchased possessed different flavours and intensity, they are always expertly roasted. The Nicaraguan has a sweet and nutty flavour, not too strong with my filter machine, a great morning brew. The El Salvador is a lighter roast and less intense flavour. I enjoy it later in the day. The delivery is always as tracked, on time, and when I open the box, with the coffee packs in it, I receive the most pleasing aroma of fresh coffee.

Lovely caramel flavour

We use a cast iron Spong grinder and these beans require a lot of effort! The resulting brew is, however, worth it. Light in colour with a fruity, caramel/toffee hit. My favourite is still Malawian which I hope you will be able to source again but this is another hit.
